Design Museum Portland launches Rapid Jewelry, a technology-driven 3D jewelry design competition.

Design Museum Portland is not looking for another string of pearls, instead they want a new approach to jewelry design. Design Museum is looking for any jewelry statement piece that combines a unique geometric design and that is equal parts fashion and technology.

Designs will be judged based on uniqueness, wearability, fashion innovation, visual presence, and 3D printing capability.

Three finalist will have their design 3D printed, and featured in a 4-city, nationally-traveling fashion show. The designs will also be highlighted in Design Museum Portland’s national exhibition, online gallery, and pop-up retail stores.

The three winning entries will also receive cash prizes: 1st prize, $2,000; 2nd prize, $1000; 3rd prize, $500.

The Rapid Jewelry Competition is open to everyone except Design Museum Portland staff, board members, and interns. Registration fees are: $15 fro students, $25 for members, and $40 for non-members.

Entries due by April 3, 2015. Winners will be announced May 23, 2015. For more information click HERE
