On Thursday, the Oregon Travel Information Council announced that Nancy DeSouza, an Oregon native, accepted the role as Executive Director of Oregon Travel Experience, according to Maddie MacGregor.

Oregon Travel Experience, located in Salem, Oregon, is dedicated to providing Oregonians with a safe and expedient traveling experience.

The agency also ensures highway safety and rest area management, guides motorists through its highway logo signs, and acts as a liaison between tourists and travel information centers.

Additionally, Oregon Travel Experience oversees Oregon’s heritage programs such as its historical and heritage trees.

DeSouza joins the agency with twenty-four years of Oregon state government executive and management.

Previously, DeSouza has also worked as the Director of the Oregon Board of Optometry, Executive Director of the Oregon Board of Parole and Post-Prison Supervision, Public Affairs/Government Relations Manager for the Oregon Department of Corrections, Marketing/Communications Manger for the Inside Oregon Enterprises/Inmate Work Programs, and Communication Manager for the Oregon Department of Consumer & Business Services.

"From her executive management experience in other semi-independent state agencies, to her marketing and communication expertise, and her excellent reputation in state government as a collaborative partner, we couldn't have asked for a stronger, more well-suited executive,” said Council Chair Gwenn Baldwin.
