Portland’s First Startup Week

Monday, February 02, 2015

Portland’s first Startup Week kicked off on Saturday and there’s a full line up of events and speakers for startup enthusiasts the rest of the week.

Running from Feb. 2-7, the week is hosted by the Seattle nonprofit Up Global. The organization focuses on helping to build entrepreneurship and grassroots organizations, and has hosted startup weekends and weeks around the country.

Over the week, gatherings and discussions will celebrate startups and provide platforms for sharing ideas.

A number of Portland startups will host open houses, such as PDX Code Guild, NedSpace, and Oregon Story Board. Speakers from the tech and business fields are also on the agenda. On Tuesday, Ingrid Alngi, CEO of Quick Left, will give a data-driven presentation on women in technology. Ignite Bridgetown will host a number of speakers who only get five minutes and exactly 20 slides for their presentation on Thursday.

Hackathons, panels on topics such as entrepreneurship in Oregon, and mixer events, like Friday’s happy hour with bloggers--Beer and Blog, will round out the week.

Most events are free to the public. Check out a complete schedule for Portland’s first start up week here
