Cargo direct imports uncommon objects from around the world. For years now Cargo owners, Patty Merrill and Bridgid Blackburn, have been working in tandem with artists, trades people, and families across the globe to bring Portland a floor-to-ceiling collections of vibrant furniture, folk art, and jewelry.
Recently Cargo moved its entire collection of cool stuff from the middle of the Pearl District to an up and coming neighborhood in inner Southeast Portland.
Just feet from a bustling railroad track that transports freight to and fro, Cargo is also, in its own unique way, in the transportation business. That's because Cargo has an uncanny ability to transport incredible one-of-a-kind goods and arty artifacts to Portland all the while making its customers feel like they have been magically transported to some far away Far East market.
The new Southeast shop offers much more space and opportunity to showcase their uncanny goods, and was the perfect setting for a Day of the Dead Celebration that served as their grand opening. Amongst sugar skull making and Yume sea glass candy tastings from Gena Renaud their was also a band that played the music of Peru.
Cargo is a great addition to this former industrial neighborhood that is quickly turning into the place to check out for what is cool and new in Portland.
The new Cargo is located at 81 Southeast Yamhill Street, just across the street from party supply store Lippman Company.
