After 40 years since it was built, Unico Properties celebrated the grand unveiling of the new U.S. Bancorp Tower in downtown Portland.

Unico hosted an invitation-only gala event this week to commemorate the completion of the $15 million renovation of the Class-A office building known to most downtown Portlanders as "Big Pink."

Approximately 250 people attended and guests included commercial real estate glitterati, staff of elected officials including Neel Pender, U.S. Senator Ron Wyden Business Outreach & Field Director, Gary Chenault, Chief of Staff for Multnomah County Commissioner Loretta Smith, tenants from U.S. Bancorp Tower, and business leaders. Some of the tenants and business leaders included the Bill Naito Company, U.S. Bank, Webtrends, SurveyMonkey, New Relic, Smith Freed & Eberhard, Shorenstein Realty Services, Portland Business Alliance, and many others.

Brian Pearce, Unico Properties Senior Vice President of Property Management and JP Perfili, Senior Vice President and Metropolitan Region Manager for U.S. Bank made brief remarks about the history and the future of the building and, right before a ribbon cutting ceremony, hoisted a champagne toast to raise a drink to “Big Pink.”

For the early evening soiree 3 Legged Torso provided the music, Paparazzi Tonight manned the photo station and a signature cocktail was offered as to “Raise a drink to Big Pink” as a "group toast" just minutes before the slicing of a five-foot cake replica of one of the most iconic buildings on our city's skyline.
