Gresham police arrested Ryan Scott Klavinger, 20, on Monday for the shooting of a 10-year-old girl. Officers found Klavinger walking in the area of Southeast Stark St. and Southeast Burnside Rd. and immediately took him into custody, according to police.

On Saturday, Oct. 18 police were called to the intersection of Southeast 190th Ave. and Southeast Yamhill St. on a report of shots being fired in the area, police said.

Within a few seconds, another 911 caller reported a 10-year-old girl in a nearby apartment had been struck in the leg by a bullet that came through a wall, according to police. The girl was taken to Emanuel Hospital for treatment and has since been released.

Klavinger was originally booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on a parole warrant pending ongoing investigation. He has since been booked on additional charges related to the shooting, including attempted aggravated murder and assault, police said.

Police ask anyone with information about this incident to call the Gresham Police tip line at 503.618.2719.
