Unknown Man Attempts to Lure Child into Truck in SE Portland

Thursday, October 16, 2014

On Thursday morning a 10-year-old girl was walking to school near the 11400 block of Southeast Norwood Loop in Happy Valley when an unknown man driving a red Toyota truck reportedly stopped to talk to her, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff's office.

Deputies said the man told the girl that her mother was in the hospital and that he was supposed to pick her up. The girl then grabbed her cell phone and the truck drove away, according to officers.

The unknown man is described as an African-American in his 50s, short and heavily built with a "scratchy smoker's voice" and grey hair and beard. Officers said the man's truck has the bumper stickers "Keep Portland Weird" and "Baby on Board," and the license plate begins with XQZ but the last three digits are unknown.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office asked anyone with information to call (503) 723-4949 or use the online email form at http://web3.clackamas.us/contact/tip.jsp.
