Portland’5 Centers for the Arts Presents The Crossroads Project

Thursday, August 27, 2015

Portland’5 and Chamber Music Northwest presents The Crossroads Project, an artistic endeavor that utilizes music, spoken word and imagery to bring to the forefront the issue of sustainability and human’s search of true meaning.

Through these art mediums, The Crossroads Project hopes to inform and inspire the audience by both artistic and intellectual means. The Crossroads Project blends science, imagery and music to tell the story of how society’s unsustainable systems influence the earth, from the most minute detail of human existence to the large scale impact, such as the changing climate.

Among the performers and speakers involved in the project include physicist and educator, Dr. Robert Davies, and The Fry Street Quartet.

The Crossroads Project came to be when Dr. Davies became inspired to change the gap that exists between science and the community. Dr. Davies recalls a time when lectures were not an effective method to raise awareness of the changing climate on a personal level. He wanted the audience and the community to relate and become inspired. It was not until Dr. Davies combined lecture with musical performance that he realized how influential art and science can be on the community, and it was then that the Crossroads project was born.

The event will take place on Thursday, October 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Newmark Theatre, 1111 SW Broadway. For more information click HERE
