OMSI and Paul Mitchell The School Portland present Fashion Meets Film, a runway show event celebrating the iconic styles of the silver screen and the top designers of today.

Fashion Meets Film Designers

Portland Fashion and Style Awards winner Wendy Ohlendorf of Boulevard De Magenta has combined fashion and film before, with her Fall 2014 collection inspired by the Blade Runner and Metropolis.

“The spring collection will have a 1972 Laurel Canyon vibe. I like having live music during my shows, and local musician Edna Vazquez will be performing an exclusive song during my collection.”

NOPO designer Kenneth Doswell of Betty Jean Couture, took home his first national award, the NYC Full Figure Fashion Week Designer of the Year Award, earlier this year. Expect to see flattering 1950’s inspired designs for women of all sizes.

Other Portland designers will include Stephanie Dong of Stephanie Couture who recently showed a collection of subtly beautiful gowns at FashionNXT, male athleisure and urban ready to wear designer Wookie Fields of Jaefield, self taught Latin designer Andres Pinedo, and Lucy Howard and Shannon DuBois of Dubard.

Bridal and couture designer Andrew Dyrdahl from Seattle, Washington, will be showing for the first time in Portland at Fashion Meets Film. Dyrdahl has worked with Nordstrom creating sportswear, and was the design director for island lifestyle clothing retailer Tommy Bahama.

Up and coming Chinese designer, Chunyao Yang, will be making her U.S. debut as well.

OMSI and Paul Mitchell have also partnered with Children’s Healing Art Project (CHAP), a healing arts program that reaches out to critically ill and disabled children and families with art programs that encourage and inspire. Donate and learn more information about the programs CHAP offers, at the CHAP’s booth.

Get there before the runway show kicks off and dance to live music and see aerialist performers.

Fashion Meets Film will be held at OMSI Featured Hall, 1945 SE Water Avenue, on Saturday January 24, doors open at 5:30 pm and runway show starts at 7 pm, 21+ only, $35 and up. Buy tickets here.
