Job Cuts Up 218% in January

Thursday, February 04, 2016

Businesses announced more than 75,000 job cuts in January, an increase of 218% from the same month last year.

Energy and retail employers led the increase, reporting plans to cut more than 40,000 jobs between the two sectors. Disappointing earnings have also led a number of notable companies, namely Yahoo, to lay off large portions of their workforces.

GoLocal teamed up with Graphiq to take a closer look at the job cuts.
