Nothing is more satisfying than ice cream – except for money, maybe. If you are affiliated with a charity organization, you are in luck come this National Ice Cream Day (Sunday, July 19th). Portland culinary mascot Salt & Straw is rewarding patrons with a simple contest that attempts to reach out to those in fiscal need.
On July 19th, visitors to the Portland or LA locations of Salt & Straw are welcomed to post a photo of a scoop of their favorite flavor of Salt & Straw ice cream to the Salt & Straw Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram page with the following hashtags: #NationalIceCreamDay, @SaltandStraw, and then the name of the competing charity organization (i.e. #Organization). In return, a significant portion of Salt & Straw’s National Ice Cream Day earnings will be awarded to the organization that submits the most hashtags.
Fortunately, there will be two winners: one in Portland and one in LA. And even if you lose, remember: you still get the ice cream. In honor of summertime, Salt & Straw is unleashing its berry-centric July menu carefully labeled “Berries, Berries, Berries.” Don't forget to go and have a lick see!
The following locations in Portland will be hosting the competition at the following times on Sunday, July 19th: the Alberta location from 11 am to 11 pm (2035 NE Alberta St.), the 23rd Street location from 10 am to 11 pm (2035 NE Alberta St.), and the Division location from 11 am to 11 pm (3345 SE Division St.).
