Here are a few events to get you off your butt this weekend. You can thank us later.
Diavolo
White Bird launches its 17th season of contemporary dance from around the world with Diavolo, based in Los Angeles and founded by Jacques Heim. Dubbed “Architecture in Motion,” Diavolo is performing a two-part program: Heim’s classic “Trajectoire,” called “organized peril,” and its most recent, critically praised work "Fluid Infinities," set to Philip Glass’s Symphony No. 3 and featuring an abstract dome structure sitting on a reflecting mirror.
Newmark Theatre, 1111 SW Broadway, 7:30 p.m., Friday.-Saturday. Oct. 10-11. $26 and up, available at whitebird.org.
OBT 25
Portland's own Pink Martini collaborates with international ballet artist Nicolo Fonte as part of Oregon Ballet Theatre's 25th anniversary. Central to the celebration are the three choreographers who most shaped OBT over its first 25 years: James Canfield, Christopher Stowell and Trey McIntyre, whose duets are featured in the show and who will all be in attendance opening night.
Keller Auditorium, 222 SW Clay St., 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 11. The show continues through Oct. 18. Visit www.obt.org for more details.
Ciderfest

And one to be on the watch for: “20,000 Days On Earth” fuses drama and reality by weaving the journey of a fictional day in Nick Cave’s life.
Reel Music Fest at Northwest Film Center, Whitsell Auditorium, 1219 SW Park Ave., Oct. 10-22. $9.

All sorts of apples, apple-related drinks (think cider, baby!) and a few pears make their annual appearance at Portland Nursery’s always-packed weekends of fruity fun. Taste and buy 60 kinds of apples and pears, visit a kids’ tent, see cider making, and hear live music at Portland's premiere Apple Tasting Festival. All entrants get a free five-pound bag of apples. How ‘bout them apples?
Portland Nursery, 5050 Southeast Stark St., 10 a.m.- 5p.m., Friday-Sunday, Oct. 10-12, and 17-19. Free.
Haunted Corn MAiZE
The Haunted Corn MAiZE is more than a 4-acre trail through a cornfield. It’s a cornfield of ghostly terrors. The haunted maze is for families and people of all ages who like Halloween and like to be a little scared. The maze goes on regardless of the weather and The MAiZE staff asks that guests to NOT bring flashlights. Spooky!
