Everything in Portland this weekend is occuring on Saturday. Don't ask me why. Listed below are some this weekend's enticing activities and events for your perusal. We'll leave it to you to determine which ones you're going to have to sacrifice attending for the sake of the others.

Tuba Christmas Concert
Fans of big brass instruments take note – this Saturday over 250 tubas, euphoniums, and baritone horn musicians will be playing holiday melodies in Pioneer Square for the 24th Annual Tuba Christmas Concert presented by SmartPark. This event is free to the public, and anyone with a tuba can register to participate up to the day before the concert.
Pioneer Square, Dec. 13, 1:30 – 3pm, FREE. Click HERE for more information.

Ciderfest

This Saturday the public house East Burn presents its first ever Ciderfest, a celebration of all the best in local ciders and cider makers. In addition to tastings of some of East Burn’s favorite ciders, there will be live music from two Portland bands, Fruition and New Solution. For $10, attendees will receive 5 taster tickets for 4 oz. of cider each and a free Ciderfest pint glass. The event will also be fundraising for Toys for Tots and asks that all attendees bring an unwrapped toy.
188 E Burnside St., Dec. 13, 4 pm – 12 am, $10 + unwrapped toy. 21+ Click HERE for more information.

Crafty Wonderland Holiday Sale

Who doesn’t enjoy crafty, hand-made items? (The answer – non-Portlanders. Or people with no souls.) This Saturday and Sunday, the crafts store/event-planning group is holding their annual Super Colossal Holiday Sale at the Oregon Convention Center.  Over 250 local vendors will be selling art prints, photography, jewelry, clothing, fiber art, soap, books, toys, even chocolate. This is a fantastic opportunity to get all your holiday shopping done if you haven’t done so already – I dare you to walk away from this sale without having found something for everyone on your list.
Oregon Convention Center, 777 NE MLK Jr. Blvd., Exhibit Hall D. Dec. 13 – 14, 11 am – 6 pm, FREE. Click HERE for a full list of vendors. Also check out their Facebook page for more information about the event.

The 5th Annual Portland Masquerade Ball

Proper Villain Productions is here to throw mind-altering, sensational events you’ll remember long after it’s ended, and on Saturday evening they will be throwing the 5th annual Masquerade Ball. This extravagant affair boasts a long music line-up beginning with featured musician RJD2, stilt walkers, a group circus performance, live body painting, a hookah lounge, and crystal ball gazing and tarot reading. And, of course, costumes are a must.  This is the place to be if you want to spend a night surrounded by mesmerizing sights, sounds, and sensations.
Branx, 320 SE 2nd Ave, Dec. 13, 8:30 pm, $34 - $50. 21+ Click HERE to purchase tickets.

Roller Derby Doubleheader Opening Event

It’s that time of year again, and I’m not talking about the holidays. On Saturday evening Portland’s all-female derby league, the Rose City Rollers, will be starting their tenth season off with a bang at the Memorial Coliseum. For the first match of the season, the High Rollers will be battling their northern sisters the Heartless Heathers. Following half-time, Rose City’s reigning champions The Break Neck Betties will be going up against fan favorites The Guns N’ Rollers.  The Rose City Rollers will also be holding an Operation Homefront Toy Drive - fans who donate a new, unwrapped toy will receive a $5 voucher redeemable at the RCR merchandise table.
Memorial Coliseum, 300 Winning Way, Dec. 13, 5:45 pm, $14-$20. Click HERE to purchase tickets.
