Abe’s 2015 College Bowl Predictions

Monday, December 21, 2015

It’s bowl season! There are now 41 bowl games, 38 of which do not matter, and I, of course am picking every single one of them. It’s going to be incredible.

My record on the season is 115-57. Happy holidays, and enjoy the games!

Gildan New Mexico Bowl: Arizona 45, New Mexico 12 – Hey, Bob Davie is still alive! He’s coaching the Lobos and he still looks glorious.

Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl: Alcorn State 34, North Carolina A&T 21 – It’s called Celebration Bowl and is the unofficial Black College National Championship game, so all I’ll say is sign me the hell up for this one.

Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl: Utah 34, BYU 31 – Baby It’s Cold Outside, you’re a good song, but you’re a dirty song.

Raycom Media Camellia Bowl: Appalachian State 28, Ohio 24 – The game is being played at the Crampton Bowl in Alabama, which reads hilariously close to Krampus Bowl.

AutoNation Cure Bowl: Georgia State 35, San Jose State 27: Full disclosure, I copied this pick from ESPN.

R+L Carries New Orleans Bowl: Arkansas State 31, Louisiana Tech 24 – It’s just not right that Louisiana Lafayette isn’t in this game.

Miami Beach Bowl: South Florida 23, Western Kentucky 13 – Didn’t Memphis try to fight some team in this game last year? It was the greatest moment in the history of Marlins Park.

Famous Idaho Potato Bowl: Akron 34, Utah State 26 – Who the hell knows.

Marmot Boca Raton Bowl: Temple 33, Toledo 20 – New York City gym teacher Matt Rhule decided to stay at Temple for another year, surprising.

San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl: Boise State 45, Northern Illinois 34 – Neither Boise State nor Chris Petersen have truly recovered from that breakup.

GoDaddy Bowl: Bowling Green 31, Georgia Southern 14 – Sorry, I don’t care how many bowls there are, there’s just no way Georgia Southern is going to win one.

Popeyes Bahamas Bowl: Middle Tennessee 21, Western Michigan 20 – This is a 9:00 AM kick, do you think the fans that have tickets will even show up?

Hawai’i Bowl: San Diego State 25, Cincinnati 20 – Tommy Tuberville is just sad now.

St. Petersburg Bowl: Connecticut 27, Marshall 24 – Some Marshall fan from Huntington, West Virginia called me something unprintable after made a joke about Rakeem Cato last year. Can you imagine how hard she must have worked to even find that column?

Hyundai Sun Bowl: Washington State 34, Miami 27 – HELL YEAH, WAZZU TAKES THE BORDER! Crazy things happen at the Sun Bowl, I can’t even wait.

Zaxby’s Heart Of Dallas Bowl: Washington 45, Southern Miss 21 – This game has a promo that says, “Fanz Renew Tickets,” is the worst thing happening this Christmas.

New Era Pinstripe Bowl: Indiana 45, Duke 31 – It’s hilarious that these two schools are playing a postseason football game. Best of luck, chumps.

Camping World Independence Bowl: Virginia Tech 10, Tulsa 0 – Frank Beamer goes out in style.

Foster Farms Bowl: Nebraska 32, UCLA 31 – A lot of people are at fault for a lot of things, but Mike Riley is at fault for NOTHING!

Military Bowl presented by Northrup Gruman: Navy 31, Pittsburgh 20 – BYU has to absolutely suck for Ken Niumatalolo to turn them down even though he’s Mormon and his sons are playing there.

Quick Lane Bowl: Minnesota 23, Central Michigan 10 – They should just play Fargo on the scoreboard instead of highlights.

Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl: California 34, Air Force 20 – So Sonny Dykes got all loopy on everyone, I’d have fired the guy and hired someone who isn’t loopy.

Russell Athletic Bowl: North Carolina 34, Baylor 21 – His freaking mad is Larry Fedora now that it looks he won’t ride this 11-win season out of UNC as they’re about to get hit with sanctions?

NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl: Colorado State 31, Nevada 17 – There’s at least like a 26% chance that this or another game is sponsored by a Ponzi scheme.

AdvoCare V100 Bowl: LSU 27, Texas Tech 16 – Les Miles is basically the godfather, him saving his job at the end of this season has to be the best/funniest thing to happen to the sport in decades.

Birmingham Bowl: Memphis 24, Auburn 23 – How could Auburn possibly care.

Belk Bowl: Mississippi State 45, NC State 28 – Dan Mullan got preeety desperate to get out of Starkville this year, unfortunately for him, he’s still around to coach this walkover of a game.

Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl: Texas A&M 24, Louisville 10 – I too am transferring from Texas A&M, you can find me next year playing some junior college ball.

National Funding Holiday Bowl: USC 31, Wisconsin 24 – So why didn’t I pick against A&M, a program that is apparently going up in flames? Because Bobby Petrino can go straight to hell, that’s why.

Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl: Houston 34, Florida State 30 – The hardest thing about this game each year is figuring out which letters are capitalized in Chick-fil-A. I am a person of reasonable intelligence and I had to Google it like four times.

Capital One Orange Bowl – Semifinal: Clemson 42, Oklahoma 38 – Big Game Bob!

Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic – Semifinal: Michigan State 24, Alabama 21 – Yeah, I’m calling it. Michigan State is nails and Saben can’t win in the playoffs.

Outback Bowl: Tennessee 20, Northwestern 17 – One of these days some team is going to pry Pat Fitzgerald away from Northwestern and look really, really smart.

Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl: Michigan 34, Florida 7 – Florida’s offense is hilarious, the first half of the SEC Championship was my favorite half of football of the season.

BattleFrog Fiesta Bowl: Ohio State 41, Notre Dame 30 – Ohio State appeared to figure things out somewhat against Michigan, but goodness, that team fell apart fast.

Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual: Stanford 12, Iowa 9 – If you don’t love this game, you’re just not having enough fun. It’s going to be awesome.

Allstate Sugar Bowl: Ole Miss 35, Oklahoma State 17 – The Sugar Bowl admitted a three-loss Ole Miss team whose best player just fell out of a four story window with marijuana in the room. Of course they’re going to win.

TaxSlayer Bowl: Georgia 21, Penn State 20 – Christian Hackenberg is just infuriating, Penn State are extremely frustrating.

AutoZone Liberty Bowl: Arkansas 34, Kansas State 20 – Bill Synder versus Bret Bielema might be my favorite coaching matchup ever, I’m smiling just imaging those guys shaking hands after the game.

Valero Alamo Bowl: Oregon 51, TCU 45 – Vernon Adams led the country in quarterback efficiency, you’d have a hard time convincing me that Oregon wouldn’t have been in the playoff conversation if he’d been healthy all year.

Motel 6 Cactus Bowl: Arizona State 28, West Virginia 24 – Big win for used car salesman Todd Graham. By the way, how great is the name of this game? Motel 6 Cactus Bowl.

College Football National Championship Game presented by AT&T: Michigan State 21, Clemson 20 – Do it for the Izzo.
