Opening night at the Portland Film Festival wowed the crowd at The Crystal Ballroom with the world premiere of a feature film and a rocking after party. 

Mayor Charlie Hales has decreed now through September 1st Portland as the “city of film” in honor of the just unspooling film fest. 

Tuesday’s opening night at The Crystal Ballroom included the pre-requisite red carpet that attracted the likes of actor Haley Joel Osment and director Isaac Feder, who were both on hand to premiere their film, Sex Ed. 

Those in attendance at the screening included actors Justin Long and Chris Williams (the incredibly sweet brother of Vanessa Williams), Saturday Night Live alum Abby Elliott and actor/director Toby Froud. Other directors at the show included Callista Haggis, Jon Matthews and horror-meister Eli Roth of Hostel fame who attended with Sex Ed. star Lorenza Izzo who appears in Roth’s upcoming Knock Knock.

The Portland Film Festival pairs the best of indie film, filmmakers, with musicians, artisan food, guest speakers, workshops and networking events. Think of it as Portland’s own sunny Sundance.
