Portland Light the Night Walk Set for Oct. 8

Thursday, October 06, 2016

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Oregon, SW Washington, Idaho and Montana chapter will hold the Portland Light the Night walk on Saturday, October 8 at 5 p.m.

The Light the Night walk is a celebration of survival and a fundraising opportunity that funds research to find cures and ensure access to treatments, which is saving the live of patients.

The local LLS chapter hopes to raise $600,000 this year.

"Light the Night is our favorite event of the year. We love seeing the community unite toward a common goal that will help so many people. Last year was our most successful event to date and with the help from the corporate sponsors and teams and the support from the community at large, we hope to surpass our goal again this year," said Stephanie Carlson, Executive Director of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, OSWIM Chapter.

The walk will start at the Oregon Convention Center with a route which leads to Portland's second largest fireworks display after the 4th of July. Following the fireworks, the walk will continue back to the Convention Center for a total distance of approximately 2 miles and is accessible to all fitness levels.
