‘The Typographer’s Dream’ Opens at Portland Center Stage

Tuesday, October 07, 2014

Playwright Adam Bock's The Typographer's Dream opens at Portland Center Stage (PCS) on Friday.

The Typographer's Dream is a comedic, one-act play featuring only three characters and 76 scenes. The play explores the working life of a typographer, geographer, and stenographer, who are all played by local actors: Sharonlee McLean, Laura Faye Smith, and Kelsey Tyler.

The play had its world premiere over 10 years ago at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The play's opening follows a $1 million gift to PCS from U.S. Bank. The bank announced the gift Tuesday and has acquired the naming of the U.S. Bank Main Stage at PCS Gerding Theater at the Armory.

The Typographer's Dream opens at 7:30 PM on Friday, with shows running through Nov. 16. Preview shows will also be held Oct. 7, 8 and 9.

Regular tickets start at $40, preview tickets are $35, and rush tickets are $20.
