Consolidated Community Credit Union Designs Massive Tribute to Portland
Friday, September 11, 2015
A building on the street corner was given a full makeover by local artist Tom O'Toole. He created a cross section of the distinct interests of the team's fans. Featured in the artwork are commemorations of the city's love of food carts, coffee, soccer, donuts, microbrews and roses.
The features are centered around the headline "We Are Rip City", the team's unofficial slogan.
“We started remodeling the building right after Damian Lillard hit the renowned last second, game winning shot in game six against the Rockets...so, I probably had a little Blazer pride flowing through my veins,” said Larry Ellifritz President and CEO of Consolidated Community Credit Union. “As a credit union we feel we are much closer to the community than a typical national bank and wanted to express that with a mural that the entire city would identify with.”
“Trailblazer fans are far from stereotypical and we wanted to demonstrate that diversity with something fun and approachable,” O’Toole said.
