South Beach State Park Hosts Sandcastle Building Competition

Monday, August 17, 2015

Get your face out of the sand -- your eyes are needed. Oregon has a long tradition of hosting imaginative sandcastle building competitions, some of which are held far away from the beach in downtown Portland. However, if you are more traditional, South Beach State Park has a contest for you with the ocean in tow.

Oregon Parks and Recreation Dept. wants you to flex the muscles in your fingers at South Beach State Park on Saturday August 22nd, from 10 am to 1 pm for their Sand Castle Competition.

You can enter this competition alone or with a little help from your friends (groups may be necessary to really create something special). Participants are asked to bring their own supplies, so don’t forget your pails, shovels, and buckets.

An awards ceremony with thoughtful prizes will conclude the competition. For more information on the event, call 541-867-7451 or visit the campground registration booth.
