The Oregon Historical Society will host famed author and historian David McCullough for a lecture on his latest book, The Wright Brothers, on Friday.
McCullough has been acclaimed as the “master of the art of narrative history.” He has won two Pulitzer Prizes, two National Book Awards and received the nation’s highest civilian award, the Presidential Medal of Freedom. His books have been published in 17 languages and one of his books have ever been out of print.
In latest book, the New York Times #1 bestseller The Wright Brothers, McCullough examined the lives of Orville and Wilbur Wright, the fathers of modern flight.
McCullough documents the pair’s ceaseless curiosity, determination and mechanical ingenuity, while documenting the differences between the two famous inventors. He draws on the Wright Papers, including private diaries, notebooks, scrapbooks and more than a thousand letters of private family correspondence.
McCullough will deliver his lecture beginning at 7:30 PM on October 30 at the Newmark Theatre. For more information about the event or to purchase tickets, click here.
