Police, Fire and Rescue Respond to Roll-Over Accident on I-205

Tuesday, January 26, 2016

A car crash involving a rolled-over vehicle required massive response on Sunday, including rescue workers from the Portland Police Bureau and Portland Fire and Rescue.

At roughly 4:15 PM on Sunday, January 24, Portland Police Bureau East Precinct and Traffic Division officers, along with Portland Fire and Rescue workers, responded to the report of a rollover crash on I-205 Southbound at Holgate Boulevard.

Officers, firefighters and medical personnel located one driver, who needed to be cut out of the involved vehicle. The driver was transported to a Portland hospital with injuries that were described as traumatic but non-life-threatening.

Fire and Rescue reported that at least one more vehicle was involved in the crash, and that at least four total patients were transported to Oregon Health and Science University.

Portland Fire and Rescue asks drivers to follow these safe driving trips when they are out on the roads:

-Don't allow children to fight or climb around in your car (they should be buckled in their seats at all times). One accidental bump or too much noise can easily distract you from concentrating on driving safely.

-Cell phones can also take your focus away from the task at hand: arriving safely at your destination.

-Avoid driving when you're tired. Be aware that some medications can cause drowsiness and make operating a vehicle very dangerous.

-Always use caution when changing lanes. Cutting in front of someone, changing lanes too fast or not using your signals may cause an accident.
