Red Cross Responds to Fires in Portland, Kelso, Hillsboro

Disaster volunteers first responded to a multi-family fire that occurred int he 2000 block of Kingwood Street in Forest Grove. The Red Cross provided assistance for temporary lodging and to meet immediate disaster-related needs to the two adults affected by the multi-family fire.
Volunteers then responded to a single family fire that occurred at 300 block of Redpath Street inkwells. The single family fire affected two adults, three children and five pets.
The Red Cross provided temporary lodging, assistance to address immediate disaster-related basic needs, comfort kits, stuffed animals, information about recovery services and disaster health services.
Finally, American Red Cross volunteers responded to a fire in Hillsboro that affected three adults and their one pet. Volunteers provided lodging assistance and assistance to address immediate disaster-related basic needs, information about recovery services and disaster health and/or disaster mental health services.
The Red Cross advocates emergency preparedness and offers the installation of free smoke alarms in communities throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington. You may call 503 528 5783 to schedule an appointment for installation.
